The Location of the Delhi Takya

I saw in my dream a slim, awe-inspiring man. He was in dark blue clothes similar to those of ḥaḍrat Shaikh ʿAbd al-Karīm al-Kasnazān. He was carrying a very tall flag mast. He said to me: “ʿImād, come and insert it into this place.” I inserted the mast while he was helping me with the digging and insertion. The place was surrounded by very beautiful buildings. He said to me: “Here you will build our house.” I said: “Allah willing.” He then turned to me and said: “Have you recognized me, son?” I said: “Master, I think you are Ghawth ʿAbd al-Qādir al-Gaylānī.” He said: “Yes, I am ʿAbd al-Qādir of the drum.”[1] He then stretched out his hand, so I kissed it and kissed his noble foot. I woke up with his scent still filling my nostrils.

When I informed the Shaikh about this dream on the same day, the Shaikh’s servant came back to me with the following message from the Shaikh: “Allah willing, He must not come back before founding a takya in the same place that he saw in the dream.”

Footnote

[1] As mentioned earlier, the drum was introduced to the dhikr by Shaikh ʿAbd al-Qādir al-Gaylānī.
