I was waiting for the time of the afternoon prayer when I was overcome by sleep. I had a dream in which I saw myself in Medina. I was standing at the end of a long queue of people. We were all waiting for the Prophet (ṣallā Allah ʿalaihi wa sallam) to come out from his shrine under the green dome so that we could visit him. Suddenly, everybody turned toward me and said: “Come close, for the Prophet (ṣallā Allah ʿalaihi wa sallam) has asked for you.” I also turned my head to see if these people were addressing someone behind me, but there was no one. The waiting column then split into two on both sides to allow me to come forward. I walked shyly. I saw the Prophet (ṣallā Allah ʿalaihi wa sallam) standing near to the door. He looked tired and was leaning on ḥaḍrat Shaikh Muḥammad al-Kasnazan for support. The Shaikh had his right hand behind the Prophet’s back and under his right armpit. The Prophet (ṣallā Allah ʿalaihi wa sallam) had his left hand on ḥaḍrat Shaikh Muḥammad’s shoulder. I said: “Allah is greater! The Prophet (ṣallā Allah ʿalaihi wa sallam) is tired? Why?” The Shaikh indicated to me with his noble head to come closer. Before I got closer, I could see some of the Prophet’s (ṣallā Allah ʿalaihi wa sallam) face, but as I moved closer, thick clouds gathered on him and the Shaikh, and I could not see any parts of them other than the Shaikh’s face. When I was closer, I heard the Prophet (ṣallā Allah ʿalaihi wa sallam) say: “Only he lifted me,” meaning Shaikh Muḥammad. I understood this to mean that the Shaikh is the promoter of the way of the Prophet (ṣallā Allah ʿalaihi wa sallam) — something I was already certain of.
